Adventures in Reno

Many Kindred took a trip to Reno, NV two weeks ago to attend two social occasions: the first was Elder Desmond Aldred’s funeral, which was hosted by Elder Julia Antasia, who hosted a Symbel in the memory of her late childe.

A few days later, the Prince of Reno was hosting a party. Many of the Kindred who attended the funeral also attended this party; other Kindred arrived in Reno specifically for this Saturday night shindig.

Please join us in Court tomorrow, Saturday June 2nd, where many interesting conversations are sure to take place.

Letter from Phoenix

This letter was received by Prince Miles on 01/18/2017, concerning the kindred of Utah.

Dear Prince Miles Sterling,

I hope this letter finds you and your domain well. I am replying to your inquiry about the behavior of kindred from the enchanting state of Utah at our previous gathering. I am pleased to inform you that the Camarilla loyal kindred, from your domain of Utah County, were exceptional examples of decorum and civility while visiting Phoenix. Elder Malthael was particularly delightful in conversation.

Unfortunately, I wish I could say the same for the Anarchs who reside in your state, but I cannot. The Baron of Salt Lake City acted in the most unconscionable manner. She and her minions were most boorish and uncivilized. They spoke to me without proper decorum and attempted to destroy the reputation of the Gangrel of your domain, Anastazie. In addition, I overheard one of them, I later learned he was called Mouse, threaten to destroy her or find someone to do it on his behalf. In addition, they attempting to sow dissension in my very city against yours!

I'm must say that their behavior appalled me. I hope your associations with that group is fleeting, for association with them must be embarrassing, to say the least. I wish for the stability of your domain to last forever and that you may have swift dealings with the disrespectful Anarchs of Salt Lake City. May Your Nights Be Never-ending.

Problems with Anarchs

The gathering was small, but three Anarchs arrived into the domain of Utah County, Anthony, Tyr, and Mouse. In addition, the unaligned kindred who calls himself Hope came with them. Prince Sterling welcomed Anthony and Tyr. He made Hope pay two minor boons per two months of welcome, for Hope is a heretic. Hope agreed. Then, Prince Sterling told Mouse that he was told by three trusted sources that Mouse tried to have Sheriff Anastazie destroyed in Phoenix, AZ, when they both traveled there the previous week for a large gathering.

Now, it's War.

The patrols reported unusual activity at an abandoned Kmart. William recognized one of the people there as a cultist. Everyone gathered to discuss the possibility that this was a trap.

In the meantime, Prince Sterling was admonishing Mercedes, for making dates with cultists and told her that she needed to obey the Traditions. Mercedes said that Prince Sterling was not her father and the Prince told her that he was a father to all in his domain. He placed her under the accounting of Mr. Sampson, the Tremere, as long as she remained in the city. She stormed out of the meeting, vowing to leave the city.

Action, Reaction

The night began on a somber note, as Prince Miles announced the removel and disgrace of Oliver, for his breaking of Elysium. Oliver humbly stepped down with no complaint, or comment. The Prince then named Maltheal as his new Seneschal.
While all of this was going on, Joe was on her way to the meeting, when she was attacked by two cultists. They were not shy about using their infernalist gifts. Joe beat one into submission rather quickly and the other grabbed his friend and fled. Joe continued to the meeting and reported on what had happened.
Anastazie was feeling fine, with no residual effects from the blood potion, so she was allowed to resume her duties as Sheriff. She took Joe and a new Toreador, to hunt the cultists. They left at once.
At the scene of the crime, they discovered the blood of one of the attackers and tracked it to their hideout. The three kindred scouted the perimeter and made sure they knew where the men where hiding. They kicked open the door to discover some sort of ritual going on, with the injured man laying on the ground, blood being poured into his mouth, while two others chanted something. Being surprised, the men did not have time to react. They were all knocked out, except one, whom was killed.
They tied up the unconscious men and looted their apartment. They were taken to the meeting place, a country club at a golf course, and placed inside the freezer. Preperations were being made to transport them, when someone smelled fire. Some kindred fled, but the ones who investigated discovered that the kitchen was blaze and the freezer was open. The locks had been melted from the inside. The men were nowhere to be found.

A Date with Cultists Part 2

The meeting was not at Elysium. Prince Sterling talked with many of the cities kindred to get an idea of what happened two weeks ago. He was informed that Sheriff Anastazie would not be present that evening. So, he assigned Hugo the Tremere to the position temporarily.

The Prince declared a Blood Hunt of the Anarch Rex, for conspiring with the infernalist cult. Unfortunately for the court, a gaggle of Anarchs came to visit, including Baron Riya, and began arguing about a trial and whatnot, but Prince Sterling ignored such nonsense.

Hunters!

The night began with danger for Sammy Sampson. He was attacked by a group of hunters, while out looking for some blood. Sammy fled from the hunters and used supernatural concealment to hide his and his zombie henchmen's presence from the mortals.

Unless it's Halloween, these guys are a breach of the Masquerade.

On the Offensive

A meeting was called at the Orem Heritage Museum. After a short meeting with the Primogen, Prince Sterling declared it Elysium. The Prince then made sure all of the information that was gathered by the cult was handed over to the Sheriff for investigation.
The Sheriff began organizing a group to hunt down the cultists, but Sammy got tired of waiting and gathered to Tremere together. He requested that the be allowed to hunt down Eric Larson, a known member of the Illuminates of the New Dawn. The Prince agreed and they departed.
The Tremere allowed one of their own to leave the Chantry, his name is Hugo. He joined the hunt for Larson.
The Tremere went to the last known location of Larson, an open air mall called The Shops at Riverwoods. William began searching the traffic and mall security cameras. They located Eric just an hour ago leaving the mall and followed his path.

A Date with Cultists

Court was held at the Riverside Golfcouse clubhouse in Provo. The Prince declared that it was not Elysium. A few notable kindred of the Ivory Tower joined the city, Dr. Butcher of clan Nosferatu, Leon Schmidt of clan Ventrue, and Chantelle of clan Toreador. Passing through was a Vizier named Kasi. Prince Sterling had the pleasure of hosting Baron Riya of Salt Lake City and Amaia. There was also an unaligned kindred who joined the gathering, Mercedes, a young kindred of clan Ventrue.
The Prince called court to order and informed everyone of Masquerade breaches in Tucson and Colorado Springs. While those cities are not extremely close, the attention of hunters may have been turned to their corner of the world, so it is imperative that the Masquerade be strictly enforced at all times. Even the smallest slip up could prove disastrous. Everyone understood and agreed.

Talk turned to the Anarch situation and the Baron suggested that she and Miles speak privately. The Baron took Amaia with her and Prince Sterling took Seneschal Oliver and Master Harpy William. The group excused themselves and went into a meeting room. Tensions were high, but no one lost control of their beasts.

New Prince, Same Problems

The Primogen Council called a meeting in a hotel penthouse, all of the elegant kindred were in attendance and fashionably dressed. There were also a gaggle of Anarchs. Before the Primogen could officially begin the meeting, Prince Oliver announced that he was calling a blood hunt against Rainbow for breaching the Masquerade. There was some doubt about his motives and the Primogen moved to remove Prince Oliver from power. Primogen Dieter, Primogen Maltheal, Primogen Tark, and Primogen Anastazie used their combined status to strip Oliver of his praxis.
Reluctantly, Miles Stepped forward and claimed praxis. Elder Maltheal of clan Toreador was the first to support him. The other Primogen followed and Miles chose not to uphold the blood hunt on Rainbow. Miles moved quickly to establish his court. He named Oliver of clan Tremere his Seneschal, Joe of clan Brujah his Keeper of Elysium, and William of clan Tremere Sheriff. William declined the office. Miles named Anastazia Sheriff instead.

The new prince went around soothing tempers and asking for solidarity among the Camarilla kindred. Everyone agreed that for the good of the Tower, they would put the past behind them.

Troubles at the Winchester Bar and Grill

Anastazia hosted a salon and invited high class kindred, along with some Anarchs. She hosted the salon next to a mortal rave that was going on next door. The Prince, Seneschal, Sheriff, and Harpy were all present. Anastazia delivered some terrible news, Zane Crockett was dead. It seemed that the cultists staked him and removed his head with an axe.

Anastazia gathered gathered together a group to find Eric, whom her ghoul had tracked to the Winchester Bar and Grill in eastern Provo. She took Dieter, Joe, and two kindred who were newly arrived to the city, and left her own salon to find him.

Kidnapped!

A salon was called by Elder Malthael and held in a nice conference hall. All of the fashionable kindred attended, along with some Anarchs.

On the way to the salon, Belfrii spotted a dog that she thought you make a nice pet and she thought it was the same one from her vision last week. She slowly approached it and tried to collar it. The dog turned into a man with claws and Belfrii swore.

Sewer Stompers and Upstarts

The night's Elysium began with the introduction of a few new vampires; Dr. Trent Sparrow of clan Toreador, Malthael elder of clan Toreador, and Matthew Kiene of clan Brujah. All presented themselves properly and were acknowledged.
The witch problem was soon brought up and the kindred had a difficult time coming up with a plan. After much discussion, they decide that Anastazia, Tristan, Dieter, Belfrii and Sir Teacup, and William will go to the sewer entrance and try to find more information about the stolen bodies. Upon entering the stinking sewer, Anastazia noticed some boot prints that were slightly different from the normal workman boots and followed them.
While the group sloshed through the sewers, a lively debate started in Elysium about what the kindred miss most about being human. Many answers were discussed; food, sex, but what a majority of them missed most was being able to be in sunlight. Then a suggestion was made that humanity is overrated and nothing about it should be missed.

Sunlight sucks for real vampires.

Bring Out Your Dead

The night began with the introduction of three new Camarilla vampires. Rainbow introduced her childe, Belfrii and her companion, Sir Teacup. Another Toreador joined the city named Tristan and an Assamite named Sien joined as well. They were all welcomed and acknoledged by Prince Oliver. Some Anarchs came to visit and they were welcomed as well. Introductions were made and everyone seemed to be getting along.

Business was handled quickly and everyone split into various groups to discuss the goings on in the area, specifically the feeling of malaise that had fallen upon the region. The investigating kindred noticed that religious buildings seemed to be less directly affected, but have a stronger feeling around their perimeters. It was also discovered that some bodies had been stolen from their graves and the grave robbers tracked to the same run down neighborhood as the perpetrators who killed a man two weeks ago. Seeing that this was unlikely a coincidence, the Prince ordered the Sheriff to investigate. Meanwhile, Belfrii was attempting to speak to ghosts in a variety of ways and warned Miles that "Winter is coming."

Dark Ambition

The first modern game of the chronicle began with the Salt Lake City Anarchs negotiating their territory with the Prince. The Prince did not request council and negotiated everything himself. The resulting map was whisked away by the Anarchs, before any other court member could view it.
A Camarilla Ventrue arrived in the city, Jaret Byar. He is a well reputed kindred, extremely loyal to the Ivory Tower.
Miles received a call from his Retainer and went upstairs with the Keeper of Elysium, Zane Crockett. They discovered a man's corpse inside the restroom. His neck had been punctured and most of his blood had been drained.

I'm sure someone will miss him.

2002

The evening began with introductions of a few new Camarilla Cainites joining the city. David "Sammy" Sampson, a Tremere; Zane, a Toreador; and Anastazie. Some Anarchs arrived and informed the Prince that they had taken Salt Lake City and pushed the Sabbat to Ogden. The Anarchs expected a big show, but the Camarilla vampires already knew what had happened. In fact, the Camarilla vampires had provided covert assistance, because the Anarchs had refused overt assistance. Deflated, the Anarch Ambassador left the meeting.
After some meeting and greeting, another Camarilla vampire arrived. He was remarkably different from the brooding vampires. He was loud, kind, and smiling. He also handed out business cards. His name was Stanley Adams.

1984

Summer, 1984. Everyone met in the basement of Mile's nightclub, previously called The Star Palace, but now called The Star. The Anarchs arrived in force, but did not seek to challenge Prince Oliver's leadership. They informed him of their plan to take Salt Lake City from the Sabbat and the Prince agreed to assist them. There was also an unaligned kindred who came to visit the city. Two new Camarilla kindred also introduced themselves, Joe, a Brujah and Edwad, a Tremere.

Too much style, 80's Style.

Zeth, the unaligned kindred, asked Prince Oliver to extend protection to him and in turn, he would offer a major boon to the Prince. The Prince agreed. A passionate debate started between the Anarchs and Ivory Tower kindred about freedom, order, and the nature of Cainite existence. Although tempers flared a bit, everyone respected Elysium.
Prince Oliver and William discussed naming a Sheriff and asked Joe to complete a task to prove her worth, if she wanted the position. He told her to go to Salt Lake City and bring back a member of the Sabbat, alive. Joe agreed and departed with William, who would be an observer.
Edwad was causing minor commotion, insulting the Anarchs and demanding everyone follow him, because he was "The Chosen One." The Prince and Harpy thought he was funny and quite possibly ingested some contaminated blood, so he was tolerated. Zeth and Anthony, an Anarch, played chess. Prince Oliver and Harpy Miles bet a trivial boon on the outcome. Anthony and Miles both lost.
Joe returned with a Sabbat member in tow. The was tied up and began spouting anti-Camarilla propaganda. He was bleeding badly and his blood was obviously flowing, he was a ghoul. Prince Oliver offered the ghoul to the Anarchs as a gift to represent their alliance. Upon hearing this, the ghoul attempted to escape, but failed. Rahab, an Anarch, crushed the ghouls chest, which killed him.
Miles immediately protested because the ghouls blood was ruining his carpet, but Rex, another Anarch, promised to clean it up. Edwad rummaged through the corpse's pockets and found only slimy used contraceptive devices. Rainbow suggested Edwad wash his hands. Edwad rubbed his hands on the Harpy's shirt to clean them. Miles warned him and Edwad removed himself from the room in a hurry. Edwad went upstairs to change.
 Rainbow removed the body and took it somewhere secret. There, she used it to divine the future. She reported the finding to the court, after disposing of the body with her allies in the coroner's office. She told them of a red star at the start of the new millennium that would appear in the sky and that would be the time to strike the Sabbat and take Salt Lake City. Everyone was pleased to hear the prophecy and plans were tentatively discussed. The Anarchs played poker for trivial boons, which Riya easily won. Rainbow was teaching one of the young Anarchs about the Camarilla, for which Miles granted her loyal.
A short time later, a disturbance at the entrance of the club drew Miles, Joe, and Oliver upstairs. A gang was looking for their lost member, which they tracked to the club. Some heated words were exchanged and Edwad walked out to see what was going on. Edwad got punched in the back of the head and ran back inside. While everyone was arguing outside about the missing gang member, who everyone figured out was the ghoul Joe and kidnapped, Edwad told the Anarchs that anyone who helped fight the gang outside would receive a major boon from him. The Anarchs rushed outside. More words were exchanged, then Riya began singing, which seemed to entrance two of the gang members. Fighting then began, with everyone ganging up on the Sabbat vampires. The Sabbat vampires were quickly destroyed and the Masquerade was protected by a sudden power outage.
For her bravery and willingness to destroy Sabbat members, Joe was granted courageous by Prince Oliver.

1969

Summer, 1969. Due to the population of the Orem-Provo area increasing beyond one hundred thousand and continuing to grow and a Sabbat presence in Salt Lake City, the Ivory Tower seemingly decided to send a group of Cainites to the area.
A group of kindred were given letters, summoning them to a secret meeting in a peach orchard seemingly from their Ivory Tower betters. Everyone stood around and stared at each other a moment, then Miles Sterling began introducing himself and talking to everyone. A table with food a candles was quickly discovered by Moonbeam, who began partaking of the food, which she swore was blood in food form. No one else was daring enough to eat the blood food, so they simply sat and chatted quietly.

Moonbeam and Miles were dressed stylishly.

Suddenly, a fancy dressed gentleman walked into the clearing. He told them he had sent the letters to summon them there. He told them of the darkness in Salt Lake City and how important it was to stop it from spreading. He implored them to work together and to consider the grove Elysium. No one disagreed with him and he departed as quickly as he'd arrived.
